Grant & Award Opportunities - Stand Up To Cancer

Grant & Award Opportunities

Are you a researcher who is looking for funding to carry out impactful and innovative research?

Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C) grants and awards fund cancer research projects that address critical problems in patient care and deliver near-term patient benefit through both individual and collaborative teams of expert investigators.

We are also committed to actively changing the health disparities landscape by supporting research and clinical trials that will develop successful strategies, measurable outcomes, and robust outreach to historically underrepresented racial and ethnic minority populations.

Core Principles

Patients can’t wait for new breakthroughs so SU2C does not operate on traditional grant cycles; rather we open Request For Applications (RFAs) as soon as funds are available. The core principles that guide our application selection process include:

  • Maximizing innovation while minimizing bureaucracy
  • Collaboration over competition
  • Advancing Health Equity in project goals and in grantee team makeup
  • Team environment to facilitate information sharing
  • Goal-oriented projects with defined milestones and deliverables
  • Regular progress reviews

Stand Up To Cancer is committed to eliminating barriers of access to new treatments for all cancer patients by harnessing the promise of precision medicine inclusive of diverse patient populations. We support clinical trials and research studies that have developed successful strategies, measurable outcomes, and robust outreach plans to include historically underrepresented racial and ethnic minority populations. We have developed application resources for incorporating health equity principles into research projects.

Open Applications

Stand Up To Cancer strongly encourages novel, collaborative, and high-impact proposals. Proposals submitted in response to Requests for Applications (RFAs) are rigorously reviewed, and the most promising, exciting projects are selected by blue ribbon committees.

SU2C CATALYST® RESEARCH GRANT PROGRAM WITH SUPPORT FROM ZENTALIS PHARMACEUTICALS

The SU2C Catalyst® Research Grant Program With Support From Zentalis Pharmaceuticals endeavors to support research investigating the use of Wee1 inhibitors for treating a variety of cancer types. Applications are encouraged from researchers who propose approaches supporting preclinical work on Wee1, which will lead to new ideas and understanding of the biology that will benefit the field in general. Teams may apply for total support up to $800,000 over a term of up to 3 years. The deadline for Full Applications is Monday, July 31, 2023.

For more information and to apply, go to Proposal Central, search Stand Up To Cancer under Grant Opportunities, and begin the application process.

Upcoming Areas of Interest

SU2C is interested in funding innovative research that has the potential to deliver life-saving results to all patients near-term, and supporting collaborations that focus on research in specific diseases or therapeutic approaches.

Areas of interest are best identified by our scientific leadership, strategic imperatives, and existing and emerging collaborations are ripe for breakthroughs that provide the most benefit to patients in the near term.

RESEARCH WE FUND

When new areas of research are identified that could have significant patient impact and potential for breakthrough, SU2C acts quickly to push proposals in these areas from concept to reality. SU2C’s research teams study many cancer types, with a focus on today’s most innovative areas of cancer detection and therapy.
